Did you ever wonder how many keys you pressed during a typical work day? Or did you ever wonder how much data you uploaded/downloaded? WhatPulse gathers such information and more and puts it at your disposal. You can check out an overview of your system, a keyboard and mouse heatmap, an overview of your uploads and downloads, and info on your PC’s uptime.

WhatPulse is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Focusing on Windows alone, to get the application up and running you will have to download a 12MB executable, run it, and then click through the instructions presented to you by a setup wizard. After the installation completes, to start using the application, you will need to sign into your account. You can register for an account on the official WhatPulse website. If you have a Facebook account, you can sign in using Facebook.

The application features a good looking, user friendly, tabbed interface. Tabs for all the functions and features the application has to offer are presented at the top – you will be able to very easily browse through all the statistics WhatPulse gathers. It must be mentioned here that all the statistics the application gathers are uploaded so you can access them online.

WhatPulse provides easy access to the following information: an overview of your system, keyboard and mouse heatmap, upload/download statistics, a list of applications that use your internet connection, real-time bandwidth, computer uptime, a list of running applications, and more. All this information can be accessed via the application's user friendly interface; via a process called “pulsing”, the information collected by the WhatPulse client is transferred to the WhatPulse servers so you can easily access it online.

WhatPulse is a free application.

See how many keys you typed, view bandwidth usage info, and more with the free and user friendly application WhatPulse.

Pros

WhatPulse can be used on a machine powered by Windows, Linux, or Mac. There’s nothing complicated about the application’s tabbed interface. WhatPulse gathers statistics, uploads them to the web, and allows you to easily access this info: keyboard heatmap, mouse heatmap, bandwidth usage, and more. WhatPulse is a free application.

Cons

Encountered some problems when trying to set up an account via the WhatPulse client.
